The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills is administered in grades 1 - 8.
The ITBS is a nationally standardized test that is designed to measure growth across all curriculum areas in achievement and critical thinking skills. This allows educators to look at performance relative to the rest of the nation. The ITBS covers reading, language, math, social studies and science.
A test of cognitive skills is also given each year to students in grades 2 and 6. A Readiness Test is administered in grades K3, K4 & K5 at the end of the school year.
Grades 5 and 8 take the ACRE (A standardized assessment of religious education).
